Help Wanted

In this tough economy, you take work where you can find it. Daddy took losing his job pretty hard, but then he came across a local job posting for a 'Man servant' that looked promising. The job description was very short and straight forward: "Do whatever The Virg wants you to do!" For example: say you are eating some yogurt and Virg comes over, crawls up on your lap, lays down, and points at your spoon. What is the correct response? That's right, your food now belongs to Virg, and it's your responsibility to feed it to him. Now you may think Daddy could get a higher paying job (more then $0.00/hour), but really, this is the best job he'll ever have and he knows it.

I'm going to need you to work late into the evenings and through the weekends.

The circle of life

It's that time of year again when the salmon return home from the ocean and swim up stream to spawn. Virg went out to Flaming Geyser State Park to check things out. Most of the salmon were on the other side of the river. So Daddy rolled up his pant legs, picked up Virg and tried to forge the river to give Virg a better view. But the bright light reflecting off Daddy's pasty white legs seemed to spook the fish... and the other wildlife... and the other guests of the park.

That's odd Daddy, it looks like they've decided to go back to the ocean.

DJ Jazzy Virg

Sometimes Daddy accidentally writes a song, and sometimes he accidentally records it. That's where Virg comes in and puts on his producer hat. If you hear a great song on the radio, it probably comes from a talented musician. But sometimes you hear a terrible song, but for some reason you like to sing along anyway and can't get it out of your head. In that case, you've found a talented music producer. Virg is good, but most of the time he has to gently break it to Daddy that his songs need a little more work.

Daddy, this song is only missing one thing... talent.

Pretend pistols at 10 paces

Virg is just starting to walk. It was last Wednesday when he stood on his own two feet and took a couple of steps towards the object of his desire. No, it wasn't Mommy or Daddy, it was a ukulele. How cool is that!! But apparently our cat Olive doesn't think we should be so impressed with Virg. I mean, she can move from point A to point B just as well without walking on two legs. Does Virg think that moving around on all fours is too good for him? He thinks he's got to be better than the cat? While we were all outside the other day, Olive gave Virg the feline equivalent of a white glove slap to the face: a tail swish to the head. The duel was on! But Virg couldn't quite walk a full 10 paces, and Olive got distracted by a moth. So I guess it was a draw.

Daddy, I think Olive just wants a pet, not a duel.

Story time with the Elder

Story time with Daddy is OK. Virg does a good job of putting up with Daddy's interpretations and hidden meanings in the sub-text. But Grandpa has information that Virg can build on. When Grandpa reads a book to Virg, he gets useful information. Like "These are eyes. You have eyes too." and "These are hands. You have hands and fingers too." That makes a lot more sense than when Daddy reads the same book and says things like "These eyes represent the oppressive underground corporate machine that is always watching you. Be careful my son."

This book is so much less stressful when you read it, Grandpa.

Wazz Up!!!

There are a lot of people in the world that make you say "Now, that's a party person." But there are only a select few that make you say "Wow, there is a person who I want to party with all the time!" It is very apparent now that Virg has a style all his own, and he doesn't let the current trends and fashions hinder his inner party animal. To call Virg a free spirit is like calling the ocean a little damp. Just throw on some rocking unsigned artist like 'Dandelion Junk Queens', 'Jonathan Coulton', 'Pomplamoose', or 'Huxley Vertical Cabaret Nouveau' and watch Virg cut up the dance floor. Kinda like Ren McCormack. Hey! You know he was cool, so don't pretend like he wasn't.

I party so hard I blow my own socks off!!

The fruits of our labor.

Global warming, economic depression, political unrest and a world in turmoil. Bring it on! We've got a garden, and it's providing us with a bumper crop this season. Just look at what we have to show for our first harvest. Two... That's right TWO cherry tomatoes. And soon after this picture was taken we had a small amount of tomato sauce. Tomorrow, I'm going to cook up like ten spaghetti noodles and we'll eat like kings... very very small kings.

Trust me Mommy, if you smash them all over the plate
it will look like you have more.
